Admission at a glance

International students who want to complete a full degree at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) apply through the same admissions process as Namibian applicants, either online through the NUST website or manually by downloading and submitting an application form with certified supporting documents. For the 2027 intake, the Guide to Prospective Students 2027 lists a closing date of Friday, 25 September 2026 for ordinary applications, an earlier closing date of Friday, 11 September 2026 for the Mature Age Entry Scheme, and a later closing date of Friday, 30 October 2026 for late applications, which carry an additional non-refundable fee. Postgraduate applicants, including those applying for Honours, Master's and Doctoral programmes, use the same 25 September 2026 closing date and pay a separate postgraduate application fee.

Undergraduate applicants generally need a Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate or an equivalent school leaving qualification with at least 25 points across five subjects, including an E symbol or better in English. Applicants whose qualifications were obtained outside the SADC region must have them evaluated by the Namibia Qualifications Authority, and any document not already in English must be submitted with an official English translation. Postgraduate applicants need a relevant Bachelor's, Honours or Master's degree depending on the programme level.

Full degree international students pay the same tuition and other fees that apply to Namibian students; NUST charges tuition per course rather than a single flat rate, so the amount payable depends on the programme and courses chosen, and is set out each year in NUST's Fees Booklet. Beyond the standard admission documents, international applicants preparing to study in Namibia also need to gather the supporting paperwork for a Namibian study permit, including a valid passport, a police clearance certificate, a completed medical certificate, proof of medical aid cover and proof of accommodation, before they travel to Namibia.

General admission is based on completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent school leaving qualification. Candidates need at least 25 points in five qualifying subjects on NUST's Admission Point Scale, including a minimum E symbol in English on the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary Level, or the equivalent subject and grade on another recognised school leaving certificate.

Applicants who do not meet the general requirement but hold at least a Junior Secondary Certificate (Grade 10/Standard 8) may apply through the Mature Age Entry Scheme if they have reached 23 years of age by 1 January of the year admission is sought, completed school at least three years earlier, and can show three years of relevant work experience; they must also pass NUST's own Numeracy and English Language Proficiency tests.

Applicants with NQF credits or qualifications from another accredited institution may be admitted with Advanced Standing to a higher study level if their credits equal at least one study period (one semester or one year) of the programme applied for, and are not older than eight years.
