Admission at a glance

Massey University's founding and largest campus is in Palmerston North, with further campuses in Auckland and Wellington and a large distance-learning programme. International undergraduate tuition for a full 120-credit year in 2026 starts at about NZD 34,220 for most programmes, rises to roughly NZD 42,110 to NZD 46,100 for Design, Construction, Screen Arts and Information Sciences, reaches NZD 84,220 for Veterinary Science, and peaks at NZD 114,341 for the Bachelor of Aviation, which includes flight training costs; non-tuition fees are charged separately from these figures. Admission requires secondary schooling equivalent to New Zealand's University Entrance standard, and, for applicants whose first language is not English, proof of proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each band, TOEFL iBT 80 with at least 19 in writing (or 4.0 overall on the shorter format used for tests from 21 January 2026), PTE Academic 50 overall with a minimum of 42 in each communicative skill, or Duolingo English Test 105 overall with no band below 95; initial teacher education programmes need a higher IELTS score of 7.0 in every component. Massey publishes its admission due dates well in advance: for a Semester 1 2027 start, most new international undergraduates must apply by 31 October 2026, though selected-entry programmes such as the Bachelor of Aviation close a day earlier, and Semester 2 2027 applications close 1 May 2027. Massey still considers late applications when places remain, but a missed deadline risks not leaving enough time for visa processing.
