Jagiellonian University Admission Requirements 2027

UJ is Poland's oldest university, based in Krakow, with English-taught programmes across the humanities, sciences, management and its Medical College. Non-EU applicants apply through the IRK system, sit an admission interview for most fields, and pay tuition set per programme, from around EUR 4,000 a year for humanities and social science to EUR 15,500 for the English-taught Medicine programme.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school certificate that qualifies for higher education in its country of issue.
English proficiency at CEFR B2 for English-taught programmes (IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72, PTE 59, or an accepted Cambridge, Trinity or telc certificate), checked again at the admission interview.
An online admission interview assessing aptitude and language for most programmes; some add a written exam or fitness test.

Master

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a non-EHEA degree is checked by the faculty for equivalent academic level rather than formal nostrification.
The same B2 English minimum as bachelor level, rising to C1 (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 87) for Medicine.
An admission interview or written exam set by the specific programme.

Documents

Passport copy; secondary school certificate or prior degree diploma and transcript, translated where not in Polish or English; a photograph meeting Polish ID-card standards, approved and uploaded in IRK before enrolment is possible; proof of English or other language proficiency; and any further documents the faculty's student office requests once qualified.

How to apply

Create an IRK account at irk.uj.edu.pl and review the admission schedule and document list for your chosen programme well in advance, since some documents take time to obtain.
Complete the application forms shown for the programme and save it under 'Applications'.
Pay the application fee (PLN 100) through IRK by the deadline.
Sit the online admission interview, and any written exam or fitness test the programme requires.
Check your qualification result on IRK, then submit the required documents to the faculty's student office by the stated deadline.
Enrol, pay the first tuition instalment (full-time study is billed in two instalments a year), and request the documents needed for the visa.
Apply for the national type D student visa.

English test waiver

Medicine programmes ask for a higher C1 level rather than B2, in practice IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 87. Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency, Trinity ISE II and above, and telc certificates are also accepted; holding a certificate does not exempt an applicant from the separate admission interview most programmes require.
