Bachelor's degree

Applicants need a qualification Heriot-Watt Malaysia recognises as equivalent to UK undergraduate entry requirements, plus a pass in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE level or equivalent. Programme-specific academic requirements are published on each course's own page.

English language

IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5 (or an accepted equivalent test). Applicants below this level can take the Pre-Sessional English Programme (PSEP) before starting Foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate study.

Postgraduate

A relevant bachelor's degree assessed by the receiving school; MBA applicants apply by direct contact with the university rather than the standard online form. English floor is generally higher than the undergraduate 6.0 for competitive postgraduate programmes.

How to apply

  1. Confirm entry and English requirements for the intended programme on Heriot-Watt Malaysia's study pages.
  2. Create an account on the online application portal and complete the form; progress can be saved and resumed.
  3. Pay the RM 530 non-refundable processing fee for each application submitted.
  4. Upload supporting documents, including English proficiency evidence and certified transcripts.
  5. Monitor the application status through the portal and receive the offer decision.
  6. Once an offer is accepted, apply for and pay Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) visa fees directly, roughly RM 3,900 for a one-year visa.
  7. Complete travel, arrival and Student Pass formalities as directed by the university and EMGS.

English test waiver

No individual IELTS band below 5.5 (overall 6.0). Applicants below this level can take the Pre-Sessional English Programme (PSEP) before starting Foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate study. A pass in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE level or equivalent is required in addition to the English score.
