Admission at a glance

Ewha Womans University is a private university founded in 1886 on Christian principles, admitting only female applicants, with its main campus in Seodaemun, Seoul. International undergraduate applicants (freshman or transfer) and both parents must hold non-Korean nationality; the university runs one international undergraduate intake a year, for a March start. For Spring 2027, online applications ran from 2 September to 8 October 2026, preliminary results were announced 13 November 2026, original documents were due 16 to 27 November 2026, and final results were announced 18 December 2026, with the semester beginning 2 March 2027.

Most Ewha undergraduate majors set no language proficiency requirement at the point of application: all new freshmen except those admitted to Nursing or the Division of International Studies (including Global Korean Studies) must complete one year (two semesters) in the HOKMA College of General Education, reach TOPIK level 3 to begin major coursework, and TOPIK level 4 before graduating, regardless of which language route they entered under. The Division of International Studies and Global Korean Studies are taught entirely in English and are the exception, requiring TOEFL iBT 80 or above (4.0 or above on the redesigned scale for test dates from 21 January 2026), IELTS Academic 6.0, New TEPS 326, or proof that secondary education was conducted entirely in English, at application. Admission is a comprehensive evaluation with no entrance quota; applicants who attended a Korean high school with recorded school-violence disciplinary measures face a points deduction or, for the most serious measures, disqualification.

Tuition for the 2026 schedule (Fall 2026 rates, the most recent published at the time of this review) runs from about KRW 4,640,000 to 5,560,000 a semester from the second year onward in Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Business Administration and the Division of International Studies, KRW 5,530,000 to 6,210,000 in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Nursing and Artificial Intelligence, and KRW 6,270,000 to 6,430,000 in Music, Art and Design; first-year students mostly pay a single HOKMA College rate of about KRW 6,310,000 (Nursing and the Division of International Studies pay KRW 5,090,000 to 5,530,000 in year one instead). The application fee is KRW 150,000 (USD 150), and Ewha's own visa guidance states that admitted students need a bank balance certificate of at least KRW 20,000,000 to obtain their Certificate of Admission for the D-2 visa.
