Requirements
Bachelor
- Applicants whose secondary schooling was completed in the EU/EEA, in a country with a bilateral agreement with Spain, or who hold an IB or EB diploma: register with UNEDasiss for an access credential.
- Applicants from any other foreign school system: obtain homologacion of the secondary certificate from Spain's Ministry of Education first, then register with UNEDasiss.
- A B2 level of Spanish is generally required, and B2 English for programmes with a specific bilingual or international admission requirement.
- Applicants whose family resides outside Spain may instead apply through UAM's own Early Admission window, paying a EUR 70 application fee per degree requested.
Master
- A bachelor's degree from an EHEA institution, or, for a non-EHEA degree, UAM's own verification that the prior degree is of an equivalent academic level.
- Programme-specific academic requirements set by the individual master's degree.
- For programmes with an English requirement, a certificate at CEFR B2 or higher; UAM's own table sets this at IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, TOEFL iBT 72 to 94 or PTE Academic 59 to 75.
Documents
Passport or national ID copy; the UNEDasiss/UNED access or homologation credential (bachelor applicants); academic transcripts and prior degree certificate (master applicants); proof of the required Spanish or English level from UAM's list of accepted certificates; and, for Early Admission bachelor applicants, proof that the applicant's family resides outside Spain.
How to apply
- Confirm the correct bachelor access route (UNEDasiss only, or Ministry of Education homologacion first), or for master's, whether a non-EHEA degree needs UAM's equivalence check.
- Register with UNEDasiss or complete homologacion (bachelor), or gather transcripts and certificates (master), well before the relevant deadline.
- Apply through UAM's Early Admission window (bachelor applicants whose family lives outside Spain) or the shared national pre-registration calendar, or through UAM's Centro de Estudios de Posgrado admission phases (master).
- Pay the application fee where one applies and submit the required documents.
- Accept the offer, complete matricula (enrolment) and pay tuition within the published window.
- Use the acceptance and enrolment documents to apply for the Spanish national student visa.
English test waiver
UAM's own official table of accepted language certificates sets IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, TOEFL iBT 72 to 94, and PTE Academic 59 to 75 as equivalent to CEFR level B2, which is the level UAM asks for on programmes with an English requirement (Spanish B2 is the general requirement for Spanish-taught bachelor programmes, unless the specific degree asks for a different level). The figures recorded here are the bottom of the B2 band on each test.
