The Complutense University of Madrid and the Autonomous University of Madrid charge the same tuition, EUR 5,044 to 8,186 a year for a non resident foreign student, because neither sets the price. The Community of Madrid fixes it by decree each year, per ECTS credit, and both universities put students from outside the EU and EEA in the top bracket. So the fee is a regional policy rather than a choice either university made, and it should not be the reason to pick one. The English requirement is where they differ in practice. The Autonomous University publishes an official table of accepted certificates, setting IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, TOEFL 72 to 94 and PTE 59 to 75 as equivalent to level B2, which is what it asks for. The Complutense describes its requirement at CEFR level rather than by score, and asks for C1 on some English taught master's programmes, which is a step above B2. An applicant with a borderline score will find the Autonomous University's published table easier to plan against. Neither has published its next application window here.
