TOEFL Requirement for South Korea Universities: Minimum Score

Typical minimum: 80 iBT where a university states a fixed minimum, though individual universities and tracks in this project's own sample range from 71 to 100, and several general undergraduate tracks (Yonsei, Korea University's general majors, Sungkyunkwan's Korean Track, POSTECH's own undergraduate guide) publish no fixed minimum at all and instead ask only for a valid score, or accept TOPIK as an alternative., verified 7 September 2026.

Computed from this project's own sample of 8 researched Korean universities: Seoul National University states TOEFL iBT 80, KAIST states 83, Sungkyunkwan's Business Administration English-track states 80, Korea University's Global Open Major (its only stated undergraduate figure) states 100, and Kyung Hee's English Track states 71. Yonsei's and POSTECH's figures used in the companion file (71 and 79) are each borrowed from that university's Graduate School or graduate GIFT track because their own undergraduate guides state no fixed minimum. Hanyang stated no fixed English minimum for undergraduate admission at all. Most universities in this sample also flag that TOEFL iBT is moving to a redesigned scale for test dates from 21 January 2026, with new equivalent minimums such as 4.0 (SNU) or 4.5 (KAIST) alongside the legacy 0-120 scale figures used here. studyinkorea.go.kr does not publish one national figure.
