Pusan National University Admission 2027: Deadlines, Requirements, Fees for International Students

Pusan National University (PNU) is a national university and the leading comprehensive university in Busan and Korea's southeast, admitting international undergraduates whose parents both hold foreign nationality into a wide range of departments across its main and Yangsan campuses. Most departments accept TOPIK level 3 (or completion of a level 3 Korean course) as the language requirement, with Engineering, Design and Nursing asking for TOPIK level 4 and Business Administration, Nursing and Food and Resource Economics asking for TOPIK level 5; the Department of Global Studies is taught entirely in English and instead requires TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 5.5 or New TEPS 326, with native English speakers exempt.

PNU runs two undergraduate international intakes a year. Its own admissions page describes a Spring intake with the application guide released at the end of August, online applications opening in early October and closing at the end of October, and results announced at the end of December, and a Fall intake following the same pattern roughly six months later (guide in late February, applications in April, results in June); PNU's page did not give exact day-level dates for the Spring 2027 or Fall 2027 cycles specifically, describing the recurring annual pattern instead. Eligible applicants must show financial capability of at least USD 18,000, a figure PNU states directly rather than the roughly equivalent KRW figure several other Korean universities cite.

As a national university, PNU's tuition is markedly lower than Korea's private universities: this review's clearest confirmed figure, for the College of Engineering, is KRW 2,364,000 a semester for 2026, from an official department tuition notice; other colleges run lower, based on a partially corroborated general figure of about KRW 1,503,000, which this review could not independently confirm college by college on an official page. The undergraduate application fee is USD 70 (KRW 60,000).

Bachelor

Applicants and both parents must hold foreign nationality, and the applicant needs a high school diploma or equivalent, with financial documentation showing at least USD 18,000. Most departments accept TOPIK level 3 or above (higher for Engineering, Design, Nursing, Business Administration and Food and Resource Economics); the Department of Global Studies instead requires an English test (TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 5.5, TEPS 326), waived for native English speakers.

Master's and PhD

PNU's Graduate School and Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) publish their own department-level admission requirements and deadlines separate from undergraduate admission.
