IELTS Requirement for Taiwan Universities: Minimum Score

Taiwan sets no national minimum; each university does. National Taiwan University asks for CEFR B2 for programmes taught in English, which it accepts as IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72 or TOEIC 785. Those are university-wide floors: an individual department may set a higher bar, and NTU states that a department may still reject an applicant, or issue a conditional offer, where the university minimum is met but the department's is not. For programmes taught in Mandarin the requirement is Chinese at CEFR A2 instead, as TOCFL Band A Level 2 or HSK Level 4.
