Uzbekistan's English-taught options include Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), established in 2002. For students starting in 2026/27, WIUT charges international undergraduates UZS 54,600,000 (about USD 4,484) per academic year and master's students UZS 75,870,000 (about USD 6,231) per course, with the MBA at UZS 78,300,000. In 2026 the application deadline for direct entry into undergraduate programmes and for postgraduate programmes was 17 August, and the foundation year closed on 15 July; 2027/28 dates have not been published. Undergraduate applicants need IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in writing or TOEFL iBT 85 to 88, master's applicants IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 88, and TOEFL Home Edition is not accepted. WIUT decides on complete applications within 14 to 20 days, and international applicants who sit its maths entrance exam pay UZS 300,000. WIUT's full fee waiver is for Uzbek citizens, but self-financed students of any nationality on the Dean's List receive a 15% discount.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists two student entry visas. The student entry visa for the period of study is issued for up to one year to foreign students at educational institutions in Uzbekistan, at the request of educational institutions, ministries or departments; a separate student visa covers short exchange periods between higher education institutions. A visa is issued on the basis of an invitation-application from an organisation registered in Uzbekistan, submitted to the Ministry's Consular and Legal Department, and written applications are considered within four working days. At the embassy or consulate, applicants submit a passport valid at least three months longer than the visa, two completed application forms and two colour photographs of 35 x 45 mm.
Visa fees depend on duration and entries. Single-entry visas cost USD 80 for up to three months, USD 120 for up to six months and USD 160 for up to one year, and multiple-entry visas cost USD 150 for up to six months and USD 250 for up to one year. The Ministry's page does not publish a funds requirement, work rules for students or options to stay after graduation.
