Armenia's English-taught options include the American University of Armenia (AUA) in Yerevan, founded in 1991. For the Fall 2027 cycle, AUA charges international undergraduates AMD 4,950,000 a year for business and economics and AMD 4,450,000 for other programmes, before financial aid, while graduate programmes cost international students AMD 3,750,000 to AMD 4,860,000 a year in 2027-2028. The application fee is AMD 20,000. Undergraduate applications for Fall 2027 open on 1 November 2026, with deadlines of 15 January (early), 30 April (regular) and 1 June (rolling), and graduate deadlines of 15 January, 31 March and 1 June. Graduate applicants are assessed against TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5, and applicants who studied full time for at least two consecutive years of the previous five in English can request a waiver. Armenian citizens and ethnic Armenians pay lower undergraduate tuition of AMD 2,450,000 to AMD 2,950,000, and all students pay a student services fee of AMD 25,000. AUA's International Scholarship can cover up to 50% of international tuition, and admission of international students becomes official only after approval by Armenia's education ministry.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not list a separate student visa. Visas are issued for a maximum of 120 days, with the possibility of extending for another 60 days, and education is among the purposes of visit on the application form. Nationals who need an invitation pay a consular fee for it.
Foreigners who study in Armenia are among those eligible for a temporary resident card. The card is issued with a one-year validity period and can be extended for one more year. Applicants provide an application, three colour photographs of 35 x 45 mm, their passport with a copy and a notarised Armenian translation, documents supporting the grounds for residence, a medical certificate and the fee receipt. The fee is AMD 105,000 for the card and the same again for an extension, and the card is issued up to 30 days after the application is submitted. The ministry's pages do not publish a funds requirement, rules on working while studying or options to stay after graduation.
