Admission at a glance
York University, in Toronto, applies through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) and assesses international undergraduate applicants on their academic record in the specific subjects each program requires. If an applicant has not yet completed a language proficiency test at the time of application, York can still assess the file on academic record alone and, where eligible, issue a conditional offer that reserves a place in the program while test results are pending. Applicants who hold a conditional offer with an outstanding English requirement may complete an eligible pathway program through the York University English Language Institute before starting their degree, with eligibility depending on current proficiency level, program and start date. Nursing and the Schulich School of Business set a higher IELTS minimum than York's general undergraduate requirement. York publishes an international-specific application deadline for Fall entry that falls later than the general Ontario equal-consideration date used by domestic Ontario high school applicants, giving international applicants more time to complete testing and document requirements.
