Requirements
Bachelor
Admission is based on the applicant's academic record in required senior secondary subjects for the chosen program; Nursing and the Schulich School of Business are more competitive and set higher English test minimums. There is no single published minimum average across all programs.
Graduate
Set by the individual graduate program; applicants should confirm requirements, references and, for research programs, a supervisor, on the specific program's page.
Documents
Official transcripts in required senior secondary subjects; English proficiency test results, or confirmation that results are pending, since York can issue a conditional offer while test scores are outstanding; any supplementary form a specific program requests.
How to apply
- Confirm your program's required subjects and English test minimum.
- Apply through OUAC and pay the application fee.
- Arrange transcripts, and English test scores where available, to reach York.
- Monitor your application through York's applicant portal and respond to document requests.
- Accept an offer of admission once received, completing an English language pathway first if your offer is conditional on this.
- Apply for a study permit.
English test waiver
Nursing and Schulich Business programs require a higher IELTS score (7.0) than the general institutional minimum. Applicants without a language test result yet can still be assessed on their academic record and may receive a conditional offer while results are pending.
