Requirements
Bachelor
Admission is based on academic record in required senior secondary subjects for the chosen program; Engineering and Computer Science have their own prerequisite and tuition structure. There is no single published minimum average across all programs.
Graduate
Set by the individual graduate program; applicants should confirm requirements, references and, for research programs, a supervisor, on the specific program's page.
Documents
Official transcripts in required senior secondary subjects; English proficiency test results unless exempt; the non-refundable application fee, which is higher for applicants whose transcripts include any institution outside Canada.
How to apply
- Confirm your program's required courses and English test minimum.
- Apply directly online to UVic by 31 January for September entry, and pay the application fee.
- Arrange transcripts and English test scores to reach the university.
- Apply for guaranteed first-year residence by 15 February if eligible and interested.
- Accept an offer of admission once received.
- Apply for a study permit.
English test waiver
UVic also accepts several years of English-medium secondary or post-secondary study, a Grade 12 English (or equivalent) final grade of 86 percent or higher within three years of admission, IB Higher Level English A with a score of 4 or higher, AP English with a score of 4 or higher, or A Level English grades, instead of a language test. Applicants who fall short of the regular admission score may qualify for conditional admission or a pathway program through UVic's English Language Centre.
