The University of the West Indies, Mona in Kingston, Jamaica, welcomed its first 33 medical students in October 1948. For 2026/2027, international students pay USD 15,000 a year for most undergraduate and graduate programmes and USD 28,000 a year for Medicine and Dental Surgery. There is no charge to apply for undergraduate study, and graduate applications for January 2027 entry close on 31 October 2026.

UWI Mona's 2026/2027 undergraduate fee schedule (published 28 May 2026, at US$1 = J$158) charges international students USD 15,000 per annum, or USD 555 per credit, for most programmes in Humanities and Education, Science and Technology and Social Sciences. Law and Engineering cost USD 15,000 a year for students from non-contributing countries and USD 10,000 for students from contributing Caribbean countries. The MBBS and the Doctor of Dental Surgery cost international students USD 28,000 per annum. The 2026/2027 postgraduate schedule charges international students USD 15,000 per annum for most full-time graduate programmes, including the LLM, MBA and PhD Law. Applying for undergraduate study is free, and admitted students pay a J$35,000 commitment fee.
