Requirements
Bachelor
A secondary school qualification recognised as giving access to university study in Italy. Italian-taught programmes require at least A2-level English.
Master
A bachelor's degree or equivalent first-cycle qualification relevant to the chosen programme. English-taught programmes require a minimum B2-level English certificate, verified either through a recognised certificate or the university's own paid English interview.
Documents
Passport or EU identity card, academic transcripts and qualification certificate, a passport photo, and a recognised English language certificate for English-taught programmes, or booking of the university's own English interview. Non-EU applicants already resident in Italy also submit their residence permit.
How to apply
- Apply through apply.unisi.it for the chosen programme or programmes, paying the EUR 40 application fee per application.
- Receive a Letter of Eligibility for Enrolment if approved.
- Non-EU applicants needing a visa register on the Universitaly portal, using the Letter of Eligibility to support the application; those who already hold an eligible Italian residence permit follow a separate, non-visa track.
- Take the documents to the Italian embassy or consulate to apply for the study visa.
- Complete pre-enrolment and enrolment at the University of Siena and pay the first tuition instalment.
English test waiver
The university requires a minimum B2-level English certificate for programmes taught in English but does not publish a single IELTS or TOEFL minimum that applies across all programmes; applicants without a recognised certificate can instead take the university's own English proficiency interview for a EUR 30 fee. Italian-taught programmes ask for at least A2-level English.
