University of Rwanda Tuition Fees 2026 for International Students

Undergraduate tuition at the University of Rwanda ranges from Frw 800,000 per year for Non-STEM Bachelor's programmes to Frw 2,000,000 per year for STEM Category One programmes (such as Medicine, Pharmacy, and most Engineering and Health Sciences programmes), based on the university's 2018-2019 fee structure, which the university's own fees page states is 'still valid until further notice' for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The University of Rwanda states explicitly that 'Administrative fees and tuition fees are the same for both national and international students' for these undergraduate programmes. A separate Undergraduate application fee of Frw 6,000 applies to international applicants (Frw 5,000 for Rwandan and East African Community citizens), payable once on application, plus mandatory annual administrative fees (medical insurance, life insurance, student union contribution, registration) that were Frw 60,000-65,000 per year in the 2018-2019 schedule.

Postgraduate tuition is published separately in a Revised Postgraduate Tuition and Administrative Fees schedule, quoted in both Rwandan Francs and US Dollars, in which international/non-EAC postgraduate students pay total fees for the whole study period equal to national/EAC fees plus an additional 20 percent. In US Dollars, this puts most Master's programmes (18-24 months) at roughly USD 1,915 to USD 4,893 for the whole study period for international students, depending on College and programme (for example USD 1,915 for Non-STEM Master's in the College of Education, versus USD 4,893 for Other Master's Programmes in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences); the 48-month Master of Medicine specialist programme is priced separately and higher, at USD 8,387 for the whole study period. A 36-month PhD by Research is USD 5,870 for the whole study period for international students. Postgraduate administrative/admission fees for new international students were USD 14 (admission fee, once) plus annual registration, medical and life insurance and union fees in this same schedule; research costs are stated as not included in tuition.
