University of Porto Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Porto, officially established on 22 March 1911, has more than 35,800 registered students, 14% of them international. Students with International Student Status pay between EUR 3,500 and EUR 16,500 a year for bachelor's and integrated master's courses in 2026/2027, with reductions of up to 45% for students from Portuguese-speaking CPLP countries. Applications for 2027/2028 have not yet opened.

English test waiver

Most bachelor's and integrated master's courses at the University of Porto are taught in Portuguese. Applicants under the special call for international students must speak the language of instruction of their course at the independent user level, and those without documents proving their level of Portuguese may be asked to take an oral proficiency test by video call. The university does not publish minimum IELTS or TOEFL scores for this call. The Faculty of Engineering asks for proof of knowledge of Portuguese through a supporting document, such as an official certificate or a signed declaration.
