University of Pisa Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Pisa is a long-established public university in Tuscany with strengths in science, engineering and medicine. For the 2026/27 year it capped non-EU visa applicants at 4,500 places across all degree programmes, and tuition runs up to a published maximum of EUR 2,900 a year.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school qualification recognised as giving access to university study, comparable to twelve years of Italian schooling. English-taught programmes ask for B2-level English; Italian-taught programmes ask for B2-level Italian.

Master

A bachelor's degree, or equivalent first-level qualification, in a field relevant to the chosen programme. English-taught programmes ask for B2-level English.

Documents

Passport, secondary school diploma or bachelor's degree certificate and transcript, a recognition statement for the foreign qualification, evidence of B2 English or Italian as required by the programme, a passport photo, and the Universitaly pre-enrolment summary once validated by the university.

How to apply

Choose a programme and confirm it has places available within the non-EU quota for the year.
Complete pre-enrolment on the Universitaly portal and wait for the university to validate it.
Apply for a study visa at the competent Italian consulate; only visas issued by the university's published cut-off date are accepted for enrolment that year.
Enrol online and pay the first instalment, due by 31 December for visa-holding students in the 2026/27 cycle.
Travel to Italy and register for the residence permit within eight days of arrival.

English test waiver

All candidates must show they can understand and express themselves in English at a minimum B2 level of the CEFR. Documentary evidence such as IELTS or TOEFL may be replaced by a personal declaration; the university does not publish a single fixed minimum test score for general admission.
