Perugia offers international students enrolling from abroad a flat rate instead of the income assessed Italian system, and sets it by the human development bracket of the country the applicant comes from. Its own schedule for first enrolment gives EUR 1,000 a year for the very high bracket, EUR 800 for high, EUR 600 for medium and EUR 400 for low, each with a EUR 16 stamp duty on top. The fee is paid in four instalments, the first of EUR 156 at enrolment and the rest across the year.
An applicant who would rather be assessed on family income can instead submit an ISEE parificato, the Italian income assessment adapted for a household abroad, and be placed in the ordinary brackets. Which route is cheaper depends on the household, so check both before enrolling.
