As a Baden-Württemberg university, Mannheim has charged non-EU international students a tuition fee of EUR 1,500 a semester since the 2017/18 academic year. Students from the EU or EEA are exempt, as are non-EU students who obtained their Abitur or an equivalent qualification in Germany, those with five years of German residence and employment, and several other defined groups. All students, including those exempt from the tuition fee, also pay the standard semester contribution, which the university states separately from the tuition fee on its fees page.
