University of Limerick Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Limerick sits on the River Shannon in Munster. Non-EU undergraduate tuition for 2026-2027 runs from about EUR 13,700 to EUR 56,600 a year including the student levy, and non-EU applicants for autumn entry must apply by 1 July.

Requirements

Bachelor

Qualifications equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate, meeting the points and subject requirements of the chosen course.

Master

A relevant undergraduate honours degree, normally second class honours grade 1 or equivalent GPA.

Documents

Academic transcripts, or a transcript of results to date with final results to follow if not yet available, evidence of English language proficiency, and a passport copy. Applicants may be interviewed to demonstrate English competence in some cases.

How to apply

  1. Check the entry requirements for your chosen course.
  2. Apply directly to UL's international office; if you do not yet have final results, apply with your transcript to date and send final results when available.
  3. Pay the EUR 50 application fee, which covers two programme choices.
  4. Submit before the 1 July deadline for non-EU visa-required applicants.
  5. Accept your offer and apply for your Irish study visa, checking irishimmigration.ie for your country's requirements.

English test waiver

General minimum, confirmed for postgraduate entry and used as the university-wide standard, is IELTS 6.5 with no component below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 90, PTE Academic 61 with no section below 59, or Duolingo 120 with no component below 110. Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds must show equivalent competence for undergraduate entry; some programmes set higher scores.
