Freiburg charges non-EU/EEA international students without a German university entrance qualification EUR 1,500 a semester for state examination, Bachelor's and consecutive Master's study, under Baden-Wurttemberg state law, in addition to the regular semester fee. Exemptions include students with a university entrance qualification earned in Germany, EU/EEA family members, holders of a permanent German residence permit, refugees, doctoral candidates, Erasmus exchange students, students with disabilities and those completing a mandatory practical semester.
