University of Catania Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Catania is a public university in Sicily offering ten master's degree programmes taught entirely in English alongside its wider Italian-taught catalogue. Its published non-EU tuition fee is EUR 306 a year, separate from a EUR 10 application fee and a EUR 75 enrolment confirmation fee due from admitted students.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school qualification recognised as giving access to university study in Italy.

Master

A bachelor's degree or equivalent first-cycle qualification relevant to the chosen programme. The ten master's programmes taught in English require an English proficiency certificate, IELTS, PTE or TOEFL, Duolingo is not accepted, with the minimum score set in the annual Call for Admission.

Documents

Passport, academic transcripts and qualification certificate, a passport photo, and an English language certificate for the English-taught master's programmes. Admitted students also need proof of payment of the EUR 75 enrolment confirmation fee within 15 days of the results being published.

How to apply

Apply to one programme through the University of Catania's call for admission and pay the EUR 10 application fee.
Wait for the admission results, published according to the schedule in that year's call, 6 May 2026 for the 2026/27 English-taught master's call.
If admitted, pay the EUR 75 enrolment confirmation fee within 15 days through PagoPA to secure the place.
Non-EU applicants needing a study visa pre-enrol through the Universitaly portal.
Take the documents to the Italian embassy or consulate to apply for the study visa, then enrol and pay the EUR 306 annual tuition.

English test waiver

The university asks for an English proficiency certificate for programmes taught in English, with IELTS, PTE and TOEFL all mentioned as accepted, but sets the required minimum score in the annex of each year's Call for Admission rather than as a single university-wide figure. Duolingo is not accepted.
