University of Cambridge Admission 2027: Deadlines, Requirements, Fees for International Students

Cambridge is a collegiate university where every undergraduate belongs to one of its constituent colleges as well as their academic department. Like Oxford, it takes UCAS applications on an earlier October deadline than most UK universities, and most courses in addition to standard admission require an admissions test, submitted written work, or an interview.

Admission at a glance

Cambridge undergraduate admission runs through UCAS, but on Cambridge's own earlier calendar shared with Oxford: the application, including choice of college, must reach UCAS by 18:00 UK time on 15 October the year before entry. Alongside the UCAS form, applicants complete a My Cambridge Application, also called the Supplementary Application Questionnaire (SAQ), which colleges use for shortlisting.

Depending on subject, applicants may need to sit a subject specific admissions test, for example the Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT), the Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA), the National Admissions Test for Law (LNAT), or the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) for Medicine. Shortlisted candidates are normally interviewed, in Cambridge or online, in December, and some courses ask for samples of recent written schoolwork beforehand.

Overseas (non-UK) tuition fees are set per course group and are separate from the college fee every undergraduate also pays; the university fee alone runs from GBP 29,052 for Group 1 subjects such as Classics, Economics, English, History and Law up to GBP 70,554 for Medical and Veterinary Science, for 2026 entry. Cambridge had not yet published the 2027 entry rate at the time of this research; it publishes the following year's fee by 1 October each year. English language ability is normally shown at IELTS 7.5 overall with 7.0 in each component, though Cambridge also accepts a good C1 standard on other recognised qualifications.
