Bath is a research intensive university best known for management, engineering and sport science, and was named Sport University of the Year 2026. It groups overseas undergraduate fees into three bands by subject and sets a comparatively high standard English language requirement of IELTS 7.0. Requirements

Bachelor's degree

A-levels, the International Baccalaureate or another equivalent qualification at the level the specific course states, plus English language ability at Category A or B level, IELTS 7.0 overall with 6.5 in each component, unless the course states a different category.

Master's degree

A relevant bachelor's degree, normally at 2:1 level or its overseas equivalent, plus the English language category the specific programme states. Bath publishes its postgraduate application timeline for each entry year separately rather than using one fixed recurring date.

Documents

UCAS application and personal statement for undergraduate courses, or Bath's own online application for Masters courses; academic transcripts and predicted or achieved grades; academic reference; English language test certificate at the required category; passport for identity and later for the Student visa.

How to apply

  1. Register with UCAS and choose Bath as one of up to five choices for undergraduate study, or apply directly online for a Masters course.
  2. Check the specific course's entry requirements and English language category.
  3. Submit the UCAS application by 18:00 UK time on 13 January 2027 for 2027 entry; for the most recent Masters intake, overseas applicants were asked to apply by the end of July and UK applicants by the end of August.
  4. Receive a decision; undergraduate offers are usually conditional on final grades.
  5. Meet the offer conditions, including the English language category.
  6. Apply for the Student visa once the place is confirmed unconditionally.

English test waiver

Bath groups its qualification requirements into categories A to D. Both Category A and Category B, confirmed directly on Bath's own pages, ask for IELTS Academic or IELTS Online 7.0 overall with 6.5 in each component, TOEFL iBT 100 overall with 24 in each component, PTE Academic 69 with no element below 62, or Duolingo 130 overall with set minimum sub scores. Students will not need to sit a separate English test if they already meet Bath's standard requirement through certain UK or other recognised qualifications.
