Temple University, Japan Campus, known as TUJ, is a branch campus of Temple University in Philadelphia, based in Tokyo's Setagaya ward with an additional site in Kyoto. It offers a full United States-style undergraduate curriculum taught entirely in English, so students earn the same Temple University degree awarded in the United States. TUJ operates rolling admissions rather than fixed cycles: applicants can apply up to three semesters ahead of their intended start, and decisions are typically released within about four weeks of a complete application. Because TUJ is a branch of an American university operating in Japan, its English proficiency requirements sit close to those of a mainstream American college: an IELTS Academic score of 6.0, or a TOEFL iBT score at the equivalent level on the university's own scale. Applicants who fall short of the direct-entry threshold but score above a lower floor can enter a Bridge Program that combines English study with regular coursework, and applicants below that floor can start in TUJ's Academic English Program before beginning degree study. TUJ publishes separate deadlines for early action, for students who need TUJ's help with a Japanese student visa, and for students who do not, since visa processing needs more lead time. Fees are billed by the semester and by credit hour, on top of a substantial one-time matriculation fee once a student is admitted as a full degree-seeking candidate.

TUJ admits international applicants under rolling, year-round admissions, with separate deadlines for early action and for students who do or do not need TUJ's help obtaining a Japanese student visa. English proficiency is shown through IELTS Academic 6.0 or higher, or a TOEFL iBT score at the university's stated minimum, noting that TOEFL's scoring changed for tests taken on or after January 21, 2026. Applicants below the direct-entry threshold can enter the Bridge Program or the Academic English Program instead.
