Requirements

Bachelor

DTU's only English taught bachelor's programme is the BSc in General Engineering; other bachelor's programmes are taught in Danish. A qualifying upper secondary exam with strong mathematics and physics prerequisites, plus English proficiency at English B level.

Master

A bachelor's degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor's degree from an internationally recognised institution, in engineering or a related field, with programme specific prerequisites. English proficiency at English B level: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (at least 6.0 per section), or TOEFL iBT 92 on the scale used before 21 January 2026 (at least 22 per section) or 4.5 on the new scale used from that date (at least 4.0 per section); Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency at 180 or above is also accepted.

Documents

Passport copy, academic transcripts and degree or upper secondary certificates, an official English test score report, a CV for most MSc programmes, and, for non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants, proof of application fee payment. Applicants for the tuition fee waiver submit a separate personal statement alongside the application.

How to apply

1. Check the admission requirements for the specific BSc or MSc programme on DTU's own pages.
2. Non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants pay the EUR 100 application fee and submit the application with all documents by 15 March (BSc, via optagelse.dk) or 15 January (MSc, direct to DTU) for the next Autumn intake.
3. EU/EEA/Swiss applicants submit MSc applications by 1 March.
4. MSc applicants seeking the tuition fee waiver add a separate personal statement to their application.
5. Receive the admission decision.
6. Accept the offer, pay the first semester's tuition (EUR 7,500) unless exempt, and apply for a Danish residence permit for study through SIRI.

English test waiver

DTU states that it does not grant exemptions from its minimum English test score requirements.
