Admission at a glance

Tbilisi State Medical University admits international students under the Georgian Education Minister's Order N224/n of 29 December 2011, outside the national entrance exams. Applicants send their documents and an English certificate at B1 level or above, and the university lists an online interview over Zoom as part of the process. The acceptance letter takes about five business days. The applicant then submits the acceptance letter and one copy of their documents, translated and notarised into Georgian, to the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement for recognition of their previous education, and brings the recognition letter back to the university before enrolment. The university publishes no application deadline for degree programmes and no application fee; its 2026-27 academic calendar starts the first semester of the English and Russian Medical Doctor programmes and the English Pharmacy and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation programmes on 5 October 2026, and the spring semester runs from 1 March to 23 July 2027. A nine-month preparatory course for foreign students, costing USD 2,000, accepts applications from 1 September to October 2026. After admission, students need a Georgian D3 study visa and then a residence permit from the Public Service Development Agency.
