Requirements
Bachelor
- Completion of a recognised Australian or overseas secondary education qualification
- Course-specific prerequisite subjects where the course requires them
- English language proficiency at IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0, or an accepted equivalent test score
- Applicants below this standard may be eligible for the Swinburne Foundation Program (IELTS 5.5 overall, no band below 5.0) as an entry pathway
Documents
Academic transcripts and certificates for secondary (and any completed tertiary) study, evidence of English language proficiency, and a certified copy of the passport identity page.

- Choose a course using Swinburne's CourseSearch tool and check its entry and English language requirements.
- Apply directly through Swinburne's online application portal or through an approved education agent.
- Prepare academic transcripts and English test results.
- Receive and accept the offer.
- Arrange Overseas Student Health Cover and apply for a student visa.
English test waiver
The 6.0 overall, no band below 6.0, standard applies to direct entry to most bachelor's degrees. Applicants who fall short can enter the Swinburne Foundation Program with a lower IELTS score (5.5 overall, no band below 5.0) as a pathway into an undergraduate degree; individual courses may set a higher direct-entry requirement, shown on CourseSearch.
