Admission at a glance

Sultan Qaboos University's Deanship of Postgraduate Studies opened applications from Omani and international applicants for 43 postgraduate programmes (18 PhD, 22 MSc and 3 postgraduate diplomas) in the second cycle of the 2026/2027 academic year. Applications were submitted from 15 July to 15 August 2026, and study starts in January 2027. All programmes offered in that cycle are at the applicant's own expense, and an international student not residing in Oman must study full time. A language proficiency certificate is required to apply, and each programme sets its score; the MSc in Mechanical Engineering, for example, asks for IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 79. Applicants pay a non-refundable application fee of OMR 10 for each programme. The dates for Fall 2027 postgraduate admission have not yet been announced. Undergraduate tuition for international students and the undergraduate application fee are not published. SQU offers two full master's scholarships for international students from outside Oman, covering tuition with a monthly allowance of OMR 250. International students pay OMR 168 per credit hour for science master's programmes and OMR 147 in the humanities.
