RWTH currently charges no tuition fee to international students, including those from outside the EU. The university has said discussions are under way with the state ministry on a possible future non-EU fee, provisionally estimated at EUR 3,000 to EUR 5,000 a semester, but this is not yet in effect, and RWTH has said students already enrolled, and those starting a Bachelor's before any change, would keep tuition-free study. All students pay a semester contribution covering the student union, a mobility and transport ticket, and social services; RWTH directs students to the AStA student government for the exact current rate.
