Nazarbayev University Admission Requirements 2027

Nazarbayev University in Astana, founded in 2010, charges USD 15,000 a year for bachelor's programmes and USD 16,000 for master's programmes in 2026-27, the same for local and international students. Top international candidates can receive Abay Kunanbayev scholarships covering tuition, insurance and a stipend, and the fee-paying spring mid-year undergraduate intake is open until 28 November 2026.

English test waiver

Nazarbayev University requires IELTS overall 6.0 with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in listening, speaking and reading for bachelor's programmes, or the equivalent TOEFL score as posted by ETS, and IELTS 5.5 overall for the foundation year; online and home editions are not accepted and scores are not combined. Master's programmes mostly require Academic IELTS 6.0 with 6.0 in writing, and the admissions committee may waive the test for degrees earned in English-speaking countries, programmes officially taught in English, or NU graduates. Transfer students who completed a semester at an English-medium university are exempt.
