The National University of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar was founded on 5 October 1942. Under its board resolution for 2026-2027, international students at the main schools pay MNT 409,000 a credit for bachelor's study, about MNT 12,270,000 a year, and MNT 10,752,000 a year for the Mongolian preparatory programme. Applications are accepted from 1 May to 1 July for the autumn semester and from 1 October to 1 December for the spring semester.

The National University of Mongolia's board of directors resolution of 25 December 2025 sets per-credit tuition for international students for the 2026-2027 academic year. At the main schools, the Mongolian preparatory programme costs MNT 512,000 a credit (MNT 10,752,000 for 21 credits a year), bachelor's study MNT 409,000 a credit (MNT 12,270,000 for 30 credits), master's study MNT 757,000 a credit (MNT 12,112,000 for about 16 credits) and PhD study MNT 818,000 a credit (MNT 13,088,000). A joint master's programme taught entirely in English costs MNT 303,000 a credit, or MNT 7,272,000 for 24 credits. Branch schools outside Ulaanbaatar charge less. International student tuition is paid each semester.
