Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary qualification recognised as giving access to university-level study, meeting the chosen programme's own subject prerequisites. English-taught programmes require at least IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80, with the exact floor set per faculty. European Law School and International Business run a numerus fixus selection procedure.

Master

A relevant bachelor's degree meeting the specific master's programme's own grade and subject requirements; non-EU/EEA applicants pay the same diploma-assessment handling fee as at bachelor's level.

Documents

Diploma and transcript of secondary (and, where relevant, higher) education, certified translation if not in Dutch or English, a passport copy, and an English test certificate meeting the faculty's stated floor. Non-EU/EEA applicants pay the EUR 100 handling fee for diploma assessment unless exempt.

How to apply

  1. Register in Studielink for your chosen bachelor's or master's programme.
  2. Pay the EUR 100 handling fee if your diploma is based on a non-EU/EEA curriculum and is not exempt.
  3. Complete Maastricht's own application and upload your diploma, transcript and English test result before the programme's deadline (15 January for numerus fixus programmes such as European Law School and International Business).
  4. If admitted and from outside the EU/EEA, apply for a residence permit for study with Maastricht University as your recognised sponsor.
  5. Pay the tuition invoice and arrange housing and health insurance before enrolling.

English test waiver

Requirements are set per faculty; the School of Business and Economics states IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80 as its floor. Some applicants whose non-EU/EEA diploma does not need assessment are exempt from the handling fee; check the specific programme page.
