King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran dates back to 1963, when it was founded by royal decree as the College of Petroleum and Minerals, and its students represent 75 countries. International undergraduates living outside Saudi Arabia have their tuition fees waived and receive a full scholarship. KFUPM waives tuition fees for international undergraduates living outside Saudi Arabia, who receive a full scholarship, so undergraduate tuition is USD 0 for these students. Graduate students on scholarship study tuition-free. Self-paying graduate students on thesis master's and PhD programmes pay USD 2,000 in the first semester and USD 1,000 per semester afterwards, plus tuition of USD 135 per credit hour; non-thesis programmes and the MBA charge a USD 2,000 registration fee each semester plus USD 135 per credit hour.
