Curtin University, Malaysia is the Sarawak branch campus of Australia's Curtin University, based in Miri, and sets its own fees and admission separate from the Perth campus. Requirements

Bachelor's degree

All courses at Curtin Malaysia are taught in English. Academic entry requirements are assessed per programme against the applicant's prior qualification, with each application reviewed case by case.

English language

General floor: IELTS 6.0. Applicants at IELTS 5.5 (no band below 5.0) can take Curtin's Foundation English units before their main programme. Test results are valid for two years.

Postgraduate

Postgraduate coursework programmes typically require a higher English floor, around IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 (confirmed for the Master of Public Health); specific academic entry requirements are set per programme and school.

How to apply

  1. Check entry and English requirements for the intended course on Curtin Malaysia's admission requirements pages.
  2. Go to the Curtin Malaysia website, select Apply Now, then Register and Apply, and complete all mandatory fields.
  3. Submit supporting documents (transcripts, English evidence, identification) as PDFs.
  4. Receive the Letter of Offer, typically within three working days once documents are complete.
  5. Accept the offer, then log in and apply directly to Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) for the Visa Approval Letter (VAL); do not book travel until this is approved.
  6. Applicants from countries that need one apply for a Single Entry Visa (SEV) at the Malaysian representative office named on the offer letter once the VAL (valid six months) is issued.
  7. Travel to Malaysia, then complete post-arrival medical screening and Student Pass registration through Curtin's Student Services Department.

English test waiver

Applicants at IELTS 5.5 (no individual band below 5.0) can take Curtin's Foundation English units before starting a degree.
