Requirements

Bachelor, session 2025-2026

BUET admits to 1,305 seats across 13 departments, plus 4 seats reserved for candidates from small ethnic communities. Applicants needed SSC or an equivalent in the science group (with mathematics, physics and chemistry) with at least GPA 4.00, and HSC or an equivalent with GPA 5.00 overall and at least GP 5.00 in each of higher mathematics, physics and chemistry. Only the top 10,000 applicants, ranked on their HSC marks in those three subjects, sit the test.

Group Ka covers the engineering departments and Urban and Regional Planning; Group Kha adds Architecture, which has its own drawing module. Engineering and planning applicants need at least 200 marks in Module A; Architecture needs at least 160 in Module B. Biomedical Engineering also requires GP 4.00 in HSC biology.

The application fee was BDT 1,300 for Group Ka and BDT 1,500 for Group Kha. Applications ran from 16 November to 2 December 2025, and the test was held on 10 January 2026.

Documents

SSC and HSC (or equivalent) certificates and mark sheets, submitted during the online application. The exact document checklist for the current cycle is published in that year's prospectus on ugadmission.buet.ac.bd, which this research pass could not reach.

How to apply

1. Wait for BUET's own admission prospectus, published on ugadmission.buet.ac.bd after that year's HSC results.
2. Apply online before the stated closing date and pay the fee the prospectus names.
3. Sit BUET's own written admission test.
4. Check the merit list and complete enrolment if offered a seat.

English test waiver

BUET does not publish an IELTS or TOEFL threshold for its undergraduate admission test on the pages this research could reach. Entry is decided by HSC results in science and the university's own written admission test.
