Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane Admission Requirements 2027

Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane was founded by royal decree in 1993 as a Moroccan university following the American liberal arts model and teaching in English, and it enrolled 3,750 students in Fall 2023. International undergraduates pay MAD 3,360 per credit, with a normal load of 15 to 17 credits a semester. Applicants living outside Morocco pay an application fee of MAD 800 and need TOEFL iBT 71.

English test waiver

Al Akhawayn teaches in English and requires a TOEFL score from all non-native speaker applicants. Undergraduates need TOEFL 530 (iBT 71) with at least 4.5 (iBT 19) in writing; graduate applicants need TOEFL 550 (iBT 79) with 5.0 (iBT 20) in writing. Applicants with lower scores, from TOEFL 420 (iBT 36) for undergraduates or 450 (iBT 45) for graduates, can be admitted to the university's Language Center. IELTS can replace TOEFL: undergraduates with a writing score below 5.5 take a writing placement test, and graduate applicants are exempt from the Language Center with an overall IELTS band of 6.5 and at least 6.5 in writing and reading. The university also runs an institutional TOEFL before each semester, valid only for admission to Al Akhawayn.
