Jagannath University (JnU)
Jagannath University shortly JnU is one of the top-ranked universities in Bangladesh. The motto of the university is Education, Faith, Discipline (শিক্ষা, ঈমান, শৃঙ্খলা) as Jagannath University (JnU) is a world-class university and also has a reputation, not inside the country but also out of the country. Hence, many people want to know about Jagannath University (JnU). With this in mind, I have started to write about it.
JnU Establishment
Jagannath University has come a long way to reach the present stage. First, there was once nothing in the name of Jagannath University, where the university is now located. There was only a school named Brahma School in 1858.
Later, The school was improved as a college in 1884, and finally, the college was named Jagannath University in 2005, improving the college as a university.
The name Jagannath school was given by Kishorilal Chowdhury, the Zamindar of Baliadi, who took over the school in 1872 and renamed it after his father’s name. Presently, it is one of the top-ranked universities in Bangladesh.

JnU Location & Area
Jagannath University (JnU) is situated in the southern part of the city of Dhaka near the Buriganga River (23°42′37″N 90°24′40″E). JnU has a supermodern campus with a vast area of more than 210 acre where there is three campus and a girl’s residential hall. There is also a nicely moderated campus under construction, about 200 acres.

JnU Admission System
Jagannath University is a public university, and so the university holds an admission program every year like the other public universities. Every year, JnU takes admission tests from students around the country and from students who come from overseas. JnU Facilities
Jagannath University provides huge facilities for the students, and it is one of the reasons for the students to get admitted here. All the facilities, Halls, Medical centers, Transport, Cafeteria, Library, Virtual Classroom, Scholarship, Physical Education Centre, and Infrastructural Development are specially notified.
JnU Residential Hall
If you read the beginning part of this article, you are supposed to know that JnU does not have a residential hall for the students. Still, there is a residential hall only for female students named Bedum Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall, inaugurated on 1 October 2021.
JnU Central Library
Jagannath University has a self-contained modern digital library rich with thousands of books and journals.
This library offers various services for the students like E-library service, e-journal service, Reference Service, Preserve magazine service, Current Awareness services, Teachers book transaction service, Clearance Service, Reading Service, Catalog Searching Service, and also a Liberation War Corner.

JnU Medical Camp
Another characteristic of the JnU is Medical Camp has played an important role in reducing the outlook of COVID-19. 21 October 2021-Thursday Medical Center, Jagannath University Covid-19 vaccination program was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Imdadul Haque.
JnU Cafeteria & Transport
Cafeteria and transport are the two most essential services from Jagannath University. Thinking about the betterment and convenience of the students, JnU authorities have launched cafeteria and transportation services.
First, 17 July 2021, the transport has inaugurated a total of 53 own express, an Ambulance, 12 BRTC 2-story buses.
On the other hand, professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman inaugurated and reconstructed the old Cafeteria in18 July 2019.
