How to Apply to Universities in Serbia (2027): Step by Step

Foreign students in Serbia enter on a long-term visa D, which costs EUR 50, and then obtain temporary residence on the basis of studies, with an approval fee of RSD 23,450. Students with residence based on studies may work up to 16 hours a week. At the University of Belgrade, foreign citizens paid EUR 8,000 a year for Medicine in English in 2025/26, and master's applications for 2026/27 close on 5 October 2026.

Degree study in Serbia

  1. Apply to the faculty (University of Belgrade master's applications for 2026/27: 1 September to 5 October 2026).
  2. Prove knowledge of Serbian or of the programme's language before enrolling.
  3. Apply for visa D (long-term, education) at a Serbian mission; fee EUR 50.
  4. Apply for temporary residence based on studies after arrival (RSD 430 submission and RSD 23,450 approval fees).
  5. Work up to 16 hours a week if you wish.
