Scholarships to Study in India (2027) for International Students

Foreign degree students in India need a student visa for on-campus, full-time study, granted for up to five years or the length of the course, or a one-year e-Student Visa. Students must register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office within 14 days of arrival, may not take up employment, and do not get a work visa after graduation. At IIT Bombay, foreign nationals pay Rs 3,00,000 a semester for undergraduate study and SAARC students, including Bangladeshis, pay half the non-SAARC rate for master's and PhD programmes.

The Government of India's Study in India programme offers scholarships and tuition fee waivers for meritorious students, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) runs scholarship schemes for foreign students. At IIT Bombay, Study in India and DAAD In-Region scholars (from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka) pay a concessional tuition of Rs 18,000 a semester for master's and Rs 3,750 for PhD study.
