Cost of Studying in Estonia (2027) for International Students

Estonia's universities teach dozens of degrees in English and charge students from outside the EU a yearly fee, mostly between EUR 3,800 and EUR 7,200 for a master's programme in 2026-27, with medicine and a few specialised programmes costing more. Applications open in winter and close in spring, usually 1 March to 15 April, every university charges a EUR 100 application fee, and a student residence permit comes with unlimited work rights and nine months to look for a job after graduating.

Tuition is charged per academic year to students from outside the EU and EEA, and set per programme. For 2026-27 the University of Tartu charges EUR 4,200 for Business Administration, EUR 6,000 for Science and Technology and EUR 13,200 for Medicine at bachelor's level, and mostly EUR 4,800 or EUR 7,200 for masters. TalTech charges EUR 5,000 to EUR 7,000 for bachelor's and EUR 3,800 to EUR 8,400 for master's programmes. Tallinn University charges EUR 4,200 to EUR 5,400 and EUR 3,800 to EUR 6,000. Doctoral study at Tallinn University is free.

Money you must show. The Police and Border Guard Board sets the minimum legal income for a student at EUR 880 a month in 2026, EUR 10,560 over twelve months.

Official fees. A long-stay D visa costs EUR 120. The temporary residence permit costs EUR 225 when applied for in Estonia and EUR 255 at a foreign representation.
