Scholarships to Study in Czechia (2027)

The biggest financial instrument in Czech higher education is not a scholarship at all: it is the fact that degrees taught in Czech at public universities are free. For a student willing to spend a preparatory year learning the language, that removes tuition entirely for the standard length of the degree plus one year. Charles University's Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies runs exactly that kind of preparation, and the university recommends it to applicants who need to build both language and subject knowledge before the admissions procedure.

On the English-taught track, the picture is thinner and more programme-specific than in the Nordic countries. Masaryk University points applicants at a scholarship offer attached to particular programmes rather than a single university-wide scheme, and its fee table notes one by name, for Applied Health Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Administration. Charles's medical faculties publish no tuition waiver for their English-taught medical degrees; the fee is the fee.

Where a discount does exist, it usually takes the form of bonus points in admission rather than money. Charles's First Faculty of Medicine grants bonus points worth ten per cent of the round one result to applicants who can show A grades in Biology, Chemistry and a third natural science or mathematics at GCE A Level, or a German Abitur with Biology and Chemistry taken as Leistungskurse at a minimum of thirteen points each and an overall average of 1.3 or better. The application for those points has to be in the university system no later than fourteen days before round one, and predicted or preliminary results are not accepted.
