In the Republic of Cyprus, public universities teach their bachelor's degrees in Greek, so most students from outside the EU who want to study in English enrol at master's level or at a private university. Cyprus University of Technology charges non-EU bachelor's students EUR 6,834 a year and most master's students EUR 5,125 for the whole programme, while the private University of Nicosia charges EUR 10,320 to EUR 11,820 a year for a bachelor's and EUR 24,000 for Medicine. Students may work 20 hours a week in term, and master's graduates can stay 12 months to look for work.

Scholarships for non-EU students in Cyprus come mostly from the universities. Cyprus University of Technology funds Social Support Scholarships covering 100% or 50% of master's tuition, for up to 10% of new master's students, and considers applications from students resident outside Cyprus separately; students apply in their first or second semester. The University of Nicosia gives non-EU students in their first year a scholarship based on their school-leaving grades, and later scholarships of 10% to 50% based on grade point average, but not for master's, doctoral, medical, veterinary or online programmes. The Cyprus government's CyprusAid programme awards scholarships primarily to nationals of countries of the Global South, Commonwealth member states and Small Island Developing States.
