How to Apply to Universities in Cyprus (2027): Step by Step
In the Republic of Cyprus, public universities teach their bachelor's degrees in Greek, so most students from outside the EU who want to study in English enrol at master's level or at a private university. Cyprus University of Technology charges non-EU bachelor's students EUR 6,834 a year and most master's students EUR 5,125 for the whole programme, while the private University of Nicosia charges EUR 10,320 to EUR 11,820 a year for a bachelor's and EUR 24,000 for Medicine. Students may work 20 hours a week in term, and master's graduates can stay 12 months to look for work.
Check the language of instruction. Public university bachelor's degrees are taught in Greek; English-taught study is mainly at master's level in the public universities and at all levels in private ones.
Check the deadline for non-EU applicants. CUT closed its September 2026 second round on 12 June for applicants who need an entry permit. UNIC's indicative deadlines are late June for September and late October for February.
Apply to the university and pay any application fee. UNIC charges EUR 60; CUT publishes no application fee but charges a EUR 40 registration fee on acceptance.
Pay the required deposit. CUT requires non-EU students to pay a deposit and the first semester's instalment before it arranges the entry permit.
The university applies for your entry permit. The Migration Department examines it within one month.
Register within 7 days of arriving in the Aliens Register and apply for the temporary residence permit, with medical tests and Plan A health insurance.
