Virginia Tech reviews international freshman applicants on the same timeline and through the same process as domestic applicants, with no separate international application or deadline. Applicants choose between early action, due November 15, and regular decision, due January 15, for fall entry; Virginia Tech's early action is non-binding, so applicants are free to compare offers before committing to enroll. Applicants whose native language is not English must submit TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo English Test scores from a test taken within the past two years, sent using Virginia Tech's CEEB code, 5859, so the university receives them directly from the testing agency rather than as a self-reported score. Virginia Tech does not require a separate international supplement beyond the standard application and its English proficiency requirement. The university's engineering, computer science, architecture and agriculture programs draw a large share of its international applicant pool, and admission is by college rather than a single university-wide pool, so the competitiveness of an application depends in part on which of Virginia Tech's colleges the applicant selects.
