University of Strathclyde Admission Requirements 2027

Strathclyde is a technological university in Glasgow known for engineering, business and pharmacy, describing itself as The Place of Useful Learning. Requirements

Bachelor's degree

Scottish Highers, A-levels, the International Baccalaureate or another equivalent qualification at the level the specific course states, plus English language ability of IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 5.5 (IELTS 6.0 for Engineering and Science undergraduate courses).

Master's degree

A relevant bachelor's degree, normally at 2:1 level or its overseas equivalent. Strathclyde publishes fixed international deadlines for its main September intake and states courses can close early once full.

How to apply

Register with UCAS and choose Strathclyde as one of up to five choices for undergraduate study, or apply directly online for a Masters course.
Check the specific course's entry requirements and English language level, which can vary by faculty.
Submit the UCAS application by 18:00 UK time on 13 January 2027 for 2027 entry; for the most recently published Masters intake, international applicants were asked to apply by 31 July or 14 August 2026 depending on country.
Receive a decision; undergraduate offers are usually conditional on final grades.

English test waiver

Strathclyde's general undergraduate requirement, confirmed on its own page, is IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no individual band below 5.5. Undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Engineering and in Science instead ask for IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, and Strathclyde Business School asks for IELTS for UKVI 6.5 overall with no element below 5.5. Individual degree programmes may set a different requirement to these general levels.
