Requirements

Bachelor

  • Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent recognised Australian or international secondary qualification
  • The minimum ATAR or equivalent rank set for the specific course
  • Completion of, and minimum marks in, any prerequisite subjects for the course
  • Any course-specific extra requirement (for example an audition, portfolio or interview)
  • The university's undergraduate English language requirement (IELTS 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0, or an accepted equivalent)

Documents

Academic transcripts and certificates for all secondary (and, if relevant, tertiary) study, evidence of English language proficiency, a certified passport identity page, and any course-specific material such as a portfolio, audition recording or personal statement requested by the faculty.

How to apply

  1. Decide which intake and pathway apply: VTAC for Australian Year 12 or IB (Australia/New Zealand) applicants starting Semester 1, or a direct application for every other case.
  2. Check the course's entry requirements, prerequisites and English language requirement.
  3. Prepare transcripts, English test results and any course-specific material.
  4. Submit the application (up to three course preferences for direct applicants) and pay the non-refundable application fee.
  5. Track the application online and respond to any request for more information by the stated deadline.
  6. Receive the outcome, accept the offer and pay the required deposit.
  7. Arrange Overseas Student Health Cover and apply for the student visa.

English test waiver

Applicants who completed an approved secondary school program taught and assessed entirely in English may meet the requirement without a test; the university publishes a list of approved qualifications and countries. Applicants close to the standard score can enrol in a University-endorsed English pathway at Hawthorn-Melbourne (a 10 to 20 week course paired with a slightly lower IELTS entry score).
